Leaf’s AW16 collection takes inspiration from the famous Japanese animated fantasy film - Spirited Away (2001) written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli, it became the most successful film in Japanese history, receiving widespread critical acclaim. Telling the story of a ten-year-old girl who, whilst moving to a new neighbourhood, enters the spirit world. After her parents are transformed into pigs by the witch Yubaba, she takes a job working in Yubaba’s bathhouse to find a way to free herself and her parents and return to the human world.        The collection is called I SEE YOU, in Spirited Away there is a “no face man” a lonely man with no friends who meets a girl, her nativeness and simplicity leave him refreshed, this is the inspiration behind I SEE YOU. Being about personality and greed, the different sides to every individual but the most beautiful being simplicity. Using many cartoon prints and children’s figures without faces, this collection showcases Leaf’s signature colourful, creative aesthetic again with bold colour blocking and graphic intriguing prints.
